Operations Manager, Public Sector

Scale's Federal customer base is growing rapidly, and you will be on the front lines of machine learning (ML) operations to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) applications for the Department of Defense and other national security customers. As a Federal Operations Manager, you have complete project-level ownership of the operations of our data labeling system and are responsible for delivering data on time and at a high level of quality. You will build a team of high-quality data quality specialists, leverage structured problem-solving to drive operational efficiencies and work cross-functionally with other Scale teams.

You will also be a front-line touch point for Scale's customers. All of this serves an ultimate goal of delivering outsize value in supporting our customer's AI / ML objectives.
You will:
  • Own and execute data annotation workflows across diverse data types (geospatial imagery, text, etc)
  • Drive operational efficiencies on data annotation workflows and improve data quality to achieve machine learning outcomes
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with engineering, product, analytics, and delivery teams (as well as relevant experts) to achieve project outcomes
  • Communicate with and shape outcomes for Scale's strategic customers across the Department of Defense and national security customers
You have:
  • An active TS-SCI security clearance
  • 3+ years of experience in a general manager/program manager position or a similar leadership role in operations
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Great cross-functional experience and collaborative ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • An analytical, problem-solving, and grit mindset to deliver results
  • Intellectual interest in machine learning and a strong desire to do impactful work in support of the U.S. government
  • A willingness to work onsite in a secure facility in the D.C, Maryland, and Virginia areas
Nice to haves:
  • A technical background (education or professional experience with computer science, economics, statistics, or engineering)
  • SQL knowledge
  • Experience with lean process improvement, Six Sigma, Toyota Production System, etc.
  • Experience working in and / or with the U.S. government

Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position, determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, interview performance, and relevant education or training. Scale employees in eligible roles are also granted equity based compensation, subject to Board of Director approval. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process, and confirm whether the hired role will be eligible for equity grant. You'll also receive benefits including, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits, a learning and development stipend, and generous PTO. Additionally, this role may be eligible for additional benefits such as a commuter stipend.

The base salary range for this full-time position in the location of Washington DC is:

$111,780-$163,944 USD
