Position Summary
Trained microbiologist or engineer with extensive experience in aerosol science, specifically aerobiology, is required to lead and conduct experiments aimed at understanding the behavior of biological aerosols. Designs, performs and interprets controlled aerobiology experiments, designing and employing novel technologies. Participates in collaborative studies with other groups, training of graduate students, and lab meetings. Collaborates with the PI and others to develop new funding, both internal and external. Conducts other operational duties as assigned.

Required Education: Master's degree or equivalent

Biology, chemistry, environmental or chemical engineering, or related field

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and understanding of aerobiology and aerosol instrumentation and methods
  • Familiarity with aseptic technique, microbiology practices and basic molecular biology techniques including viral and bacterial cultivation, cell culture, PCR and immunoassay
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to effectively manage work on several projects and balance priorities, based on PIs direction and project deadlines
Preferred Education: Doctoral degree

  • Four or more years scientific experience in research or clinical laboratory setting.
