Position Summary | The Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha is currently accepting applications for Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the Severe Behavior department. This is an open rank position (Rank DOQ). Ideal candidates will have a passion for supporting individuals who engage in aggression, property destruction, self-injury, and other unsafe behavior. Candidates will maintain an active caseload in which they work closely with clinical teams and caregivers to provide high-quality, behaviorally based programs. Candidates will have opportunities to coordinate and implement functional analyses and a variety of function-based interventions, focused treatments for severe behavior, caregiver training and consultation, and comprehensive care across the lifespan. Qualified candidates will have a record of excellence in clinical work and a strong commitment to mentoring students and staff. Candidates must have completed doctoral training in psychology, behavior analysis, or a related field. Candidates eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the state of Nebraska are encouraged to apply. About Severe Behavior: The Severe Behavior department at the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) offers specialized services for individuals exhibiting aggression, self-injury, property destruction, and other unsafe behavior. The department comprises a collaborative team of clinical educators and researchers dedicated to integrating training and research into clinical service delivery within a highly interdisciplinary center. In 2021, MMI moved into a state-of-the-art facility, prioritizing the expansion of innovative clinical and educational programs serving individuals with a wide range of physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral disabilities. The Severe Behavior department offers a range of services, including initial evaluations, outpatient therapy, day treatment programs, and intensive outpatient programs. Each child progresses through therapy based on their individual needs, with a strong emphasis on functional communication training and other prosocial responses critical for skill acquisition and success in home, school, and community settings. Faculty members serve as case managers and play a crucial role clinical supervision, leading teams of Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior Technicians in designing, implementing, and monitoring individualized assessment and treatment plans. They provide guidance on best practices in behavior analysis, ensure fidelity of intervention implementation, and support professional development within their teams. Faculty members also provide hands-on training opportunities for staff, students, interns, and fellows. Through structured mentorship and supervision, faculty foster growth of future behavior analysts, psychologists, and researchers while advancing evidence-based practices in the field. Current research within the department focuses on improving the efficacy, efficiency, and generality of function-based interventions, such as functional communication training. About MMI:
