Physicians Mutual is seeking a Testing Manager to lead one of our testing teams within the Enterprise Technology Group. This role is responsible for driving software quality through strategic test planning, automation, and Agile methodologies. The Testing Manager will oversee a team of 10-12 testing professionals, ensuring adherence to best practices while collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality, error-free software solutions.

This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to improving testing processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in test automation, Agile development, and quality assurance while possessing a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and provide guidance on test plans to ensure alignment with business objectives and user acceptance criteria.
  • Enhance project quality by identifying optimal solutions that balance functionality, cost, and business needs.
  • Offer strategic insights and provide though leadership on IT solutions and testing best practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach testing teams to foster professional growth and high performance.
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions to overcome testing challenges.
  • Design, develop, and execute integration, system, and user acceptance tests.
  • Utilize industry-standard tools for test planning, execution, traceability, and defect tracking.
  • Possesses knowledge of the Agile, Iterative, & Waterfall based methodologies and the associated test practices / principles associated with each Oversee the development of test cases derived from non-functional models, user stories, and specifications.
  • Establish and maintain an automation-based testing strategy aligned with department and project goals.
  • Develop and execute volume, load, and stress testing using performance testing tools.
  • Identify and address software defects early in the development lifecycle to improve system reliability.
  • Implement testing strategies for both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing while building strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Analyze complex problems, prioritize testing efforts, and drive the test planning process across multiple projects.
