Responsible for allocating and distributing of tissue products adhering to department standard operating procedures. May transport patient specimens. May transport blood products. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment, represent the lab in a professional manner, and provide excellent customer service.
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum of 18 years of age required.
* High school education or equivalent required.
* Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills required.
* Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in clinical laboratory medicine preferred.
* Post-secondary education in a laboratory or health-related field preferred.
* Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
* Computer experience preferred.
* Attention to detail preferred.
* Ability to multitask preferred.
Essential Functions
1. Process blood and tissue products as applicable to the department. 50% 1.1 Receive and process blood products, and deliver to the correct location within the allotted time. 1.2 When applicable scan product, supplies, equipment, and applicable location with scanner. 1.3 Prioritize delivery based on patient order.
2. Order and track pick-up and delivery of product supplies and equipment. 40% 2.1 Ensure the maximum utilization of all existing in-house resources and supplies are used before ordering additional resources. 2.2 When notified of a need for a service supply or equipment, ensure that the appropriate resources are engaged. 2.3 When notified that services supplies or equipment are no longer needed, follow the applicable department process for discontinuation. 2.4 Maintain logs and summaries of completed activities and ensure that all data and information is accurately and efficiently filed appropriately. 2.5 If required in area of responsibility, complete routine equipment monitoring and maintenance per established schedule.
2.6 If required in area of responsibility, identify and correct basic equipment malfunction and refer serious problems to appropriate individuals.
3. Follow policies/procedures/regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments. 10% 3.1 Comply with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures in addition to regulatory requirements (such as OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.) and participate in corporate/departmental safety and quality activities. 3.2 Train other staff on the proper performance of the specific task that you are assigned, while a trainee is assigned to you. 3.3 Pass all annual organization safety tests. 3.4 Perform other work assignments as required.
