Advance your nursing career with Nebraska Medicine's Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Internship. This paid internship offers registered nurses currently enrolled in an NP program a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a high-acuity neonatal environment. Work alongside residents, fellows, and a multidisciplinary team, gaining exposure to surgical cases, deliveries, and complex neonatal care. You'll orient with one or two dedicated practitioners and position yourself for a potential long-term role with our team after graduation.

Schedule Details:
Full-Time, 36 hours per week
Three 12-hour shifts
Days vary and are self-scheduled
Duties: Neonatal Nurse Practicum Intern
Under the direct supervision of the staff neonatologist or designated other, provide primary health care and specialized health services to a co-assigned caseload of neonates and their families. Diagnose medical conditions, plan and implement interventions, and evaluate patient responses under the direction of the attending or designated other. Medical diagnostic, therapeutic, and management functions are instituted under medical supervision using protocols or guidelines developed by the individual services/programs. practices within the framework of a collaborative relationship with a physician. The NNP Intern practices under the direct supervision of the neonatologist or designee. Activities are under the direction of the staff neonatologist or designee. The Director of Women's and Infants Services provides general support and leadership. The NICU nurse manager and neonatologist (or designee) provides direct supervision of activities. Direct and indirect influence on licensed and unlicensed care providers through role modeling, educating, mentoring, and influencing work process.
Required Qualifications: Neonatal Nurse Practicum Intern
Minimum one year clinical experience as registered nurse in a related health care setting required.
Current enrollment in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program required.
Current registered nurse license in the state of Nebraska required.
Demonstrate leadership and teaching abilities required.
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written form required.
Ability to work independently required.
Effective critical thinking and analytical skills required.
Knowledge of fiscal analysis, word processing, database management, and informatics required.
Ability to use informatic system, word processing systems, telecommunications devices, office equipment required, audiovisual teaching and educational materials required.
Follows policy, procedure and protocol manuals required.
References current resources such as reference books and periodicals required.
