The Adjunct instructor will empower adult learners with engaging sustainable living course content that blend creativity with real-world, practical skills for everyday life. Responsibilities include designing lesson plans, guiding students in various sustainability techniques, and fostering a positive and interactive learning environment. Ideal candidates have expertise in areas such as sustainable food systems, self-sufficiency, and eco-friendly practices and are committed to sharing their knowledge with diverse learners.
Various sustainable course topics may include, but are not limited to, building rain barrels, raising chickens or rabbits, organic gardening techniques, canning and food preservation, solar energy applications, hydroponics and urban farming, hearth care and wood stoves, building and cooking with cob ovens, growing and using herbs, sustainable food practices, composting and waste reduction, bicycling for sustainable transportation, beekeeping and honey production, and beeswax and candle making.

Maintain an average course satisfaction rating of 4.5/5 or higher from student surveys.
Guide students in real-world applications of sustainable living techniques.
Foster a positive and interactive learning environment that encourages student participation.
Develop and update course materials to ensure relevance to current sustainable practices.
Ensure all course materials and handouts are prepared and distributed prior to each class.
Respond to student questions and communication within 48 hours.
Ensure classes consistently start and end on time as scheduled.
Submit attendance records and post-course paperwork within 24 hours of class completion.
5 years of experience in an applicable role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Conduct sustainable living classes, workshops, and lectures, covering various topics techniques, history, and theory.
Design and update course materials, lesson plans, and syllabi.
Maintain a positive and productive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and participation.
Stay updated on sustainable living content trends, techniques, and educational best practices.
Work with other faculty members to align course content and participate in department meetings.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers, students, business contacts and at various levels from front-line to administration.
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
