A Brief Overview
The Revenue Cycle Systems Analyst is responsible for managing and/or coordinating organizational initiatives to optimize revenue cycle workflows and system functionality. Identifies opportunities for improvement in the revenue cycle and assists in determining which areas to prioritize based on the organization's current needs and future goals. Collaborates with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including other revenue cycle teams, clinical leaders, IT, vendors, and more.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the Revenue Cycle Expert managing and/or coordinating organizational initiatives to optimize revenue cycle workflows and support the long-term goals. Define requirements for updating or changing existing and implementing systems Develop cross-initiative integration plans across multiple systems and support a variety of applications Participate in system analysis and in business/revenue cycle projects, implementation of new application modules, enhance an existing component of the application, application upgrades or upgrades to technical components, implementation of a third-party product to work with application, and periodic internal releases of the application. Performs regular research to stay on top of industry best practices, technological and innovations to remain competitive, to include adoption of robotic process automation and AI solutions in the revenue cycle.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management, Clinic and IT Team members on routine/maintenance and short-term objectives. Monitors and coordinates open issues for open tickets impacting revenue cycle Plan, prepare, document, and assist with application, integrated, and unit testing. Look for and identify opportunities to optimize workflow and processes making recommendation as needed.
  • Lead assigned revenue cycle projects to ensure all targets are attained and due dates are met. Works across business and functional areas to assure alignment and implementation of processes. Works with project teams to document process flows and make recommendation for workflow optimization. These projects focus on: Revenue cycle assessments Revenue cycle process improvement Alignment and implementation of processes

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare administration, information systems, business or related field required, or equivalent work experience. Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in healthcare billing, healthcare collections, healthcare finance, healthcare registration, or healthcare IT required. Required and
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Information Technology Preferred and
  • Previous Epic application experience and certification Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of hospital and clinic revenue cycle operations
  • Knowledge of hospital and physician billing, collection and reimbursement requirements and standard practice.
  • Knowledge of the current healthcare climate, including managed care developments, HIPAA standards and governmental program regulations.
  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and revenue codes and their effect on hospital reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of healthcare EMR workflow, preferably Epic
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must obtain job related certification with 9 months of hire and maintain the certification(s) for duration of employment in Revenue Cycle Required
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel and Word required. Required
