Position Summary: The Lead Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, works closely with our Orthopedic Providers to treat orthopedic injuries and ailments. This position will support team members and patients within our orthopedic setting.

Position Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or master's degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

Licensure: Licensed or licensure eligible as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state in which they practice required.

Certification: N/A

Experience: 3+ years of orthopedic clinical experience required. Previous leadership experience - preferred.


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in data analysis, performance measurement, and the use of quality improvement tools is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides medical services and clinical education to patients in a clinic setting. Provides medical care and treatment to existing patients
  • Promotes the professional practice of the clinic by maintaining and improving rapport with peers, patients, and the medical community.
  • Responsible for dictating medical finding on patients in a timely and concise manner.
  • Assists physicians in writing new prescriptions and prescription refills
  • Communicates test results to patients in a timely manner
  • Assists physicians in the completion of Worker's Compensation forms, dictation of attorney letters, and other responsibilities as requested.
  • Assists with on-call duties as needed.
  • Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Attend mandatory educational programs.
  • Coordinates schedules, timecards, and time off for APP team members
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training for APP positions
  • Assist in process improvement across the organization
  • Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate positive professional and leadership behavior functioning as a role model for the entire APP team.
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
