GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general direction of the Application Manager or designee(s), performs a variety of skilled and technical work associated with application support requiring moderate responsibility and independent judgment. Position is responsible for providing support for applications and systems that support critical County business functions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, clients, end users, supervisors, managers, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the general public.
Interact with users and management to define and document requirements for application software.
Analyze office processes, perform research and make application recommendations.
Recommend office policy or process changes for efficient use of applications.
Maintain a professional level of knowledge of various offices policies concerning use of software.
Assist with collecting and submitting enhancement requests to software vendors for future releases.
Install, update, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain application solutions.
Install and trouble-shoot technology solutions, including but not limited to those which may be installed within public safety vehicles.
Customize packaged application solutions to meet business needs.
Maintain record of all activities associated with new and/or modified applications.
Assist in the evaluation, configuration and deployment of third-party software applications.
Work as translator between end-user and development staff and/or third-party application support.
Operate and support in-house Audio/Visual equipment throughout the County including supported agencies.
Communicate with development staff in the maintenance and development of programs and applications.
Perform quality assurance on applications and deliverables prior to implementation or distribution to end-users.
Learn business applications and provide end-user tutoring, training, and support.
Research new products and maintain current knowledge of software products.
Assist Technical Support Specialists (Help Desk) as needed.
Work closely with Information Security staff and other stakeholders to improve the security posture of the environment and secure data while adhering to security policies and compliance-related processes and procedures.
Report to work with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.
Peripheral Duties
Serve as a member of various committees as assigned.
Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
Education and Experience
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, MIS, or closely related field preferred.*
Four (4) years of work experience in Application/Technical Support experience preferred.*
*Approved combination of training and/or work experience that would provide equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered and substituted for the stated education.
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Driver’s License, as well as meet eligibility requirements of “acceptable driver standards” as defined by the County.
Must have ability to obtain and maintain a conditional certificate of the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS).
Must successfully pass extensive background checks, including but not limited to criminal history records check.
Position will report to the Applications Manager and will be in on-call rotation for after-hours issues and must be able to arrive at the Courthouse within 45 minutes of receiving a call.

Work is typically performed indoors in an office setting. Due to the nature of the position, duties may involve occasional exposure to moving parts and outside environment. Work hours may include evenings, weekends, call-ins, holidays, and on-call assignments. Work may be fast-paced when dealing with multiple priorities and time constraints. The noise level is typically moderate.
