Senior Auditor

Hayes & Associates, LLC is seeking a Senior Auditor to join our growing firm. The position would be located out of our Omaha, Nebraska office, but offers great flexibility with the opportunity for a partial remote working arrangement up to three days a week. You will be responsible for the overall performance of audit, review, and compilation engagements.

As a key member of our assurance team you will have the opportunity to serve a diverse client portfolio including privately held businesses, nonprofits, and governmental entities in a wide variety of industries. You will oversee staff auditors and work closely with our Directors and Partners to ensure clients receive high-quality and timely services.

This position requires minimal overnight travel as the majority of our clients are local. A minimum of two years of audit or assurance experience and a BS/BA degree in accounting are required. A CPA certificate or demonstrated ability to sit for the exam, including all required coursework are required.

 

We are seeking an experienced audit professional to provide quality work and can hit the ground running.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Plan and lead all aspects of assurance engagements from initial preparations to presentation of the final opinion to the client. Monitor and review work paper preparation in accordance with internal quality control and applicable professional standards.

  • Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.

  • Provide risk assessments and recommend controls; prepare financial statements, management letters, and detailed reports on audit findings.

  • Build and expand relationships with clients and community contacts in an effort to contribute to the overall marketing efforts of the firm.

  • Stay abreast of advances in technology, auditing techniques, and current pronouncements and developments

  • Take an active role in staff development; fostering teamwork, innovative thinking, and the sharing of knowledge and involvement in our quality assurance programs.

  • Possess or cultivate a technical focus on small to mid-size companies, non-for-profit organizations and/or governmental entities.

  • Assist audit partners and senior management on client proposals and business development calls as requested.

  • Ability to research technical accounting and auditing issues.

  • Work with team to identify audit issues and provide timely solutions and consultation for our clients.

  • Lead audit planning, closing, and take active leadership role in presentations to audit committees or board of directors.

  • Balance assigned workload between self and staff.

  • Meet assigned deadlines or budgets and provide advance warning of challenges that are identified and provide proactive solutions.

  • Demonstrate the ability to supervise and train junior professionals.

  • Be self-motivated and effectively work independently

  • Possess excellent client relationship skills and time management skills

  • Be organized with the ability to execute on multiple, concurrent client engagements.

  • Familiarity with accounting and auditing software including QuickBooks, CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, and PPC are a plus.

  • In addition to all of this, you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, have an active CPA license, and have 3-7 years of experience in public accounting audit work.
