Job Purpose:

The Vice President of Residential Care is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of residential programming, including PMIC (Psychiatric Medical Institutions for Children) and shelter care. The primary focus is on ensuring quality care and providing strategic direction.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Ensure safe and effective service provision in all residential programs.
  • Maintain accreditation, licenses, and contracts in good standing, with timely submission of all deliverables.
  • Ensure a holistic approach to resident care, with regular family involvement, communication, and supportive services.
  • Provide comprehensive financial oversight in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, ensuring the programs operate within budgetary limits and meet financial goals.
  • Ensure each program’s census goals are met or exceeded, and expenses, including personnel costs, are maintained at or below budgeted levels.
  • Provide and/or oversee the supervision of residential staff.
  • Foster a supportive work environment through regular feedback, teambuilding, training/professional development, and clear communication channels.
  • Engage in or oversee the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of quality staff who are well-suited and prepared to provide quality residential programming.
  • Ensure timely and effective responses to all critical incidents and coordinate internal and, if needed, external responses in collaboration with program directors.
  • Actively participate in agency teams and committees.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to enhance program support and resources.
  • Utilize strategic business acumen to identify opportunities for program growth, optimize resource allocation, and enhance overall financial sustainability.

Other Duties:

  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Complete training necessary to perform the position and for professional growth.
  • Monitor legislative activity and respond through advocacy groups and, as appropriate, individually.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience providing supervisory oversight to residential programming.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills appropriate for a leadership position.
  • Ability to attend community-based meetings, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Availability to provide programmatic support on an on-call and/or emergency basis, including traditional business hours.

Work Environment:

  • Most work occurs in office or indoor residential settings.
  • Hours and schedule will vary.
  • Availability to provide programmatic support on an on-call and/or emergency basis, including outside traditional business hours.

Physical Requirements:

The position requires time spent in service environments, which can range from highly stressful to potentially aggressive to casual and leisurely, in both indoor and outdoor settings. Specific requirements include the ability to:

  • Hear, talk, and see within normal limits.
  • Type and perform other office-related tasks.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Move around campus settings and travel to other locations.
  • Work evening and weekend hours as needed.
