College Accountant

Clarkson College is currently seeking a College Accountant. The College Accountant role is critical to provide support and assist in the recording of financial transactions and to perform functions necessary to ensure College financial activities are properly recorded. This position reports directly to the VP of College Finance and is additionally directed by the College Controller to support strategic initiatives, accrediting body functions, and state and federally compliant financial practices.

This position is a liaison to all College departments within the organization to ensure accurate and timely expense report processing, continuing education tracking, and accounts payable and receivable transactions. Additionally, this role is responsible for accounting support to the College Controller and the VP of College Finance as directed to include but not limited to analyzing prepaid/accrual processes, the preparation of cash reconciliations, monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and more.

The College Accountant will participate in annual audits and prepare financial reports as required, work closely with the other accounting positions in the College Finance Division, and provide assistance and coverage to student accounting services, as required. This position will ensure sound student and employee accounting practices, work in conjunction with the facilities team on capital project monitoring, and adhere to all regulatory bodies, company policies, and financial goals.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
* Minimum two years of experience working in the area of accounting required.
* Demonstrates thorough knowledge of financial and accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
* Experience in analyzing and reporting results required.
* Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail required.
* Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.
* Independent problem-solving skills and self-directed work experience required.
* Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite required.
* Ability to create, analyze, read, and interpret financial reports required.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Workday Software experience preferred.
