Functional Analyst

Primary Function: The Financial Aid Functional Analyst I is responsible for configuring, maintaining and monitoring tables within PeopleSoft Student Financial Planning as well as Regent Education for the department to ensure system functionality for departmental and University use. The analyst researches and troubleshoots systems errors and problems and works with Technology Support for resolution. The Analyst provides documentation and expertise for the development of departmental training and provides system on-the-job training within the department. The Analyst completes system upgrades and testing bundles, builds custom queries, runs reports and archives data based on retention policies. The Analyst develops and maintains metrics to ensure objectives are met. Delays or errors in performing functions would have a significant impact to business operations and customers. The Analyst collaborates with other departments to trouble shoot their modules to ensure all modules are integrated correctly. Additionally, the Functional Analyst is the key contact when issues/problems occur with COD, NSLDS, EdConnect, or any other provider supporting departmental operations.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Serves as a liaison between assigned business operations and enterprise technology services.
  • Collaborates with external partners, vendors and consultants for operational and system support.
  • Reviews and analyzes user’s requests for program and process development or modifications.
  • Assists enterprise services in translating business processes into technology requirements.
  • Develops procedure/maintains system documentation for processes or modifications.
  • Monitors post-implementation problems and revisions.
  • Configures new tables, and maintains and monitors various tables and data within the Financial Aid module of PeopleSoft and Regent to ensure system is performing correctly.  
  • Identifies, researches and troubleshoots systems errors and problems and coordinates with Technology Support for resolution. 
  • Collaborates with other departments to troubleshoot their modules to ensure all modules are integrated correctly.  
  • Provides documentation and expertise to leadership in the development of new and existing processes related to the system. 
  • Performs upgrade functions and testing to ensure system readiness for production.
  • Uses the Test Environment to ensure all new processes are setup and working properly and then moved into Production.
  • Provides departmental end user support and on-the- job system and process training.
  • Develops custom queries and run reports for departmental use.
  • Researches and evaluates system capabilities and makes recommendations to leadership on system setup. 
  • Identifies daily jobs that run within system that fail and troubleshoot.

 

Marginal Functions:

 

  • Reviews current literature and attends professional trainings to keep current on federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Attends one graduation ceremony per academic year.
  • Participates in departmental meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Information Technology or related field preferred, or four (4) years of equivalent work experience required.  
  • Basic understanding of Information Technology Functions.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with PeopleSoft required; experience with PeopleSoft Student Financial Planning module preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong verbal, written, interpersonal relation communications skills and the ability to work in a diverse culture.
  • Detail orientation, accuracy, ability to think critically, and organize information in a systematic manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility and the ability at times to operate under stressful, time-sensitive or competing deadlines. 
  • Commitment to quality and personal ethics to maintain a high level of confidentiality related to all duties and responsibilities.
  • Strong ability to research, analyze and interpret data and information.
  • Solid knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database software, experience with PeopleSoft CRM and ERP preferred.
  • Functional Project Management Skills.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Works with critical deadlines, often under time sensitive stress.
  • Works in normal office environment
